Heat Trace & Snow Melt Systems

Reliable Heat Trace & Snow Melt Solutions for Safety and Efficiency.
Our heat trace and snow melt systems are designed to keep your property safe, accessible, and efficient — no matter the weather. From preventing ice buildup on roofs and gutters to clearing driveways and walkways, we provide tailored solutions that protect people, preserve property, and reduce maintenance costs all winter long.

Advantages of Heat Trace Systems

Application

Automatic Operation

Freeze Protection

Heat trace (or heat tape) is typically used on pipes, roofs, and gutters to prevent freezing or ice buildup.

Freeze Protection

Automatic Operation

Freeze Protection

Keeps pipes from freezing and bursting during extreme cold

How Heat Trace Works

Types of Heat Trace

Types of Heat Trace

Types of Heat Trace

 There are two main types:

  • Constant Wattage Heat Trace – Produces a steady level of heat whenever it’s turned on.

  • Self-Regulating Heat Trace – Adjusts its heat output depending on the surrounding temperature, using less power when it’s warmer and more when it’s colder

Control

Types of Heat Trace

Types of Heat Trace

The system is usually controlled by a thermostat or sensor, so it automatically turns on when temperatures drop near freezing. This prevents frozen pipes, ice dams on roofs, and dangerous icicles or blockages in gutters

Installation

Installation

Installation

Heat trace (sometimes called heat tape or heating cable) works by running an electric heating cable along the length of a pipe, roof edge, or gutter. When powered, the cable generates heat that transfers directly to the surface it touches, keeping it above freezing.

Installation

Because the heat is applied directly where it’s needed, heat trace is efficient, reliable, and low-maintenance compared to other freeze protection methods.

Advantages of Electric Snow Melting Systems

Application

Application

Application

Electric snow melting cables/mats are embedded in driveways, walkways, or ramps to automatically melt snow and ice.

Safety

Protects Surfaces

No need for shoveling, salting, or using snow blowers

How Snow Melt Works

Control

Installation

Installation

The system typically works with automatic sensors that monitor both temperature and moisture.

Installation

Installation

Installation

Electric snow melting systems use heating cables or mats installed beneath concrete, asphalt, or pavers. When the system is activated, the cables warm the surface just enough to melt snow and ice as it falls, keeping the area clear and safe

Operation

Installation

Operation

Because the heat is distributed evenly across the surface, it prevents ice buildup, reduces the need for shoveling or salting, and protects driveways and walkways from freeze-thaw damage.

  1. Sensor detects snow or freezing conditions → The system turns on.

  2. Heating cables warm the surface → Snow and ice melt on contact.

  3. Surface drains naturally → Melted water flows away before it can refreeze.

  4. System shuts off → Once conditions improve, it powers down to save energy.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@elevateitinc.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Heat trace is an electric cable system installed on pipes, roofs, or gutters to prevent freezing and ice buildup.

It’s an underground heating cable or mat installed in driveways, walkways, or ramps to automatically melt snow and ice.

On exposed water pipes, roof edges, gutters, downspouts, or anywhere freezing could cause damage or safety issues.

On driveways, walkways, stairs, parking pads, or wheelchair ramps—anywhere snow and ice create safety or access problems.

With proper installation, electric heating cables can last 20+ years with minimal maintenance.

Both can be installed in new builds or retrofitted into existing properties, though snow melting retrofits may require resurfacing driveways/walkways.
